Hi. I’m Marissa Wells. I make web sites.
I started in 1997, teaching myself HTML by looking at the code generated by a WYSIWYG editor. Since then I’ve taught myself XHTML, CSS, PHP and have learned to utilize Javascript libraries such as jQuery. I learned ASP.NET in my coursework at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies, and ColdFusion and Flash/ActionScript while earning my master’s in new media at their S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
My designs tend to be fairly minimal, because clutter makes me batty. I like color, and grids are just the best thing since avocados. I was an artistic kid, and I’d like to think that I still am.
I’m frequently asked, “So what are you? A designer, or a developer?” The answer is both: I’m a hybrid. I’ve become accustomed to playing multiple roles. That’s not to say I want to stay that way, though. But I’m still quite early in my career, so I’m taking things one step at a time. Only time and opportunity will tell where I eventually end up.
But I do go on. Anyway, take a look at my work or résumé if you’d like. If you like what you see, feel free to contact me about freelance work.
